the perks of being a planner

Fact:
I love lists.
I'm a Lister.

and almost anyone who knows me, knows this.
I am accomplish anything with the help of a yellow steno pad & a uni-ball signo pen.

The key to effective planning is
finding a system that works for you
& your style
& your needs
& your being.

for me, that system is listing.

& this is why I do it:
- I'm a visual learner
- I remember things by writing them down
- seeing the things on paper helps me to visualize my work load.
- I tend to get overwhelmed by large big-picture projects
but I love big-picture projects.

so this is how I do it:
- I take a task, & I itemize the steps it will take to complete
- then I create myself a timeline.
- giving myself deadlines helps me to be realistic about my goals & expectations for myself.
- and with the completion of each step, I get the satisfaction of crossing the item off my list.

note:: If you're not a Lister, this may not seem that important -- but MAN does it feel good to cross something off.
Can I get an amen??

Sure, planning takes some time upfront, but it saves me from a stress-induced headache & frustration in the end

I also spend a good deal of time reminding myself
that it's okayyyy to take babysteps.

It doesn't matter how fast you're moving,
just that you're moving at all is what's important
